Personal Biography:
My
interest in music started at the tender age of 14, in 1988. While
attending Junior High School, I joined the school's Band and picked up
more interest and experience in music. One afternoon I attended
A school dance and was enthralled by the DJ’s performance, and from that
day forward, I knew that I wanted to become involved in the music
field. I wanted to DJ as well.
During the
day, I have enjoyed working in the audio sound and lighting department
of various music stores. I have attended numerous on-hand workshops and
have gained immeasurable experience in engineering and equipment
installation. I have also done complete club sound and lighting
installations for several area clubs.
My first
break as a DJ was in 1990, just two years after my start; a promoter
that I knew was working at CREAM a club in South beach on the corner of
6th & Washington Avenue, in Miami Beach. He asked me if I could fill
in for his regular DJ for one night. To his surprise, he found out I
was good, and that is how I started my career as a club DJ.
I have had
permanent Residences at Fat Tuesday, where I worked at their locations
in Miami, Coconut Grove and Rush Street in Ft. Lauderdale. I have
worked and hosted several parties at the Clevelander Hotel & Bar that’s
been voted the #1 Lounge by Bar & Club magazine.
My most
recent accomplishment came when I was asked to DJ the 2002 MTV Latin
Video Awards After-Party at Cafe' Nostalgia in Downtown Miami, where I
was asked to mix my music alongside the sounds of Nilo-Nille' a Guiro
African sound group that specializes in Folkloric afro-Cuban rhythms
Playing the
MTV Latino Video Awards party led to a month long Residency at SPREAD a
5 star Martini bar in NYC where I played alongside a Conga Player as
well as a timbale player. We came together and brought forth a great
feel of Latin & Afro-Cuban sounds combined with house & tribal-istic grooves
blending the two as if they were one. It was a great and rewarding
challenge as we came together for that project which was a complete
success. |
